Daily Design Wall: May 2014
http://dailydesignwall.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 29, 2014. May 28, 2014. I got a lot done today. I started by taking two steps back and doing lots of unsewing. Then lots of quilting and lots of cutting out letters. I can't reveal an image of the whole thing because I'm trying to enter it into a competition that allows no published images. But I am very happy with my progress. The spray paint was a leap of faith, and I'm very happy with the way it looks like a charcoal drawing. Sunday, May 25, 2014. May 25, 2014. Gallery sitting at the SAQA.

I also did a demonstration on making circles with Karen Kay Buckley's Perfect Circles. I'm always learning little tips here and there, more tools for my toolbox. Here's a great tip on making circles. I read on the blog A Few of My Favorite Things today. Wednesday, I took a fun class with Lauren Kingsland. Block of the month.

Sunday, May 31, 2015. May 31, 2015. I've been steadily working on designing and hand appliqueing borders for my guild's 2016 raffle quilt. These are the blocks. I started with the large blocks, which are approximately 20 years old. After I picked a setting I like, I asked current guild members to make the smaller setting blocks. I designed top and bottom borders based on elements in the blocks. A guild member used her Accuquilt die cutter to cut out scrappy flowers and leaves for us. Block of the month.

Sunday, January 26, 2014. January 26, 2014. I'm working on block B1 George's Cherry Tree of the Baltimore Garden Quilt. It is a very tricky block! There are many layers of leaves, stems and birds and it is challenging to figure out which layer to apply first. I realized after my first bird was done that I mistakenly placed its tail over a stem. I'm not sure I want to rip it out and do it over. Here's the original fabric. Tuesday, January 21, 2014. January 21, 2014. January 10, 2014. January 4, 2013.

Thursday, November 20, 2014. November 20, 2014. I added some borders to my current project. I tried out a few "orphan" semicircles but decided they were over the top.
