Them's Fightin' Words: November 2014
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. On November 30th, 1984, the Changeman cast assembled for the first round of publicity still shoots (see above), with filming starting at around the same time. CHANGEMAN BEGINS. So begins the legendary show's 30th anniversary, in which I might unleash a complete spamathon in commemoration. Why? Changeman's my favorite. Changeman's the best. And? I just don't think Toei's going to bother doing anything for it. Join the celebration all year long at Facebook. A damned easy custom p...

Them's Fightin' Words: After the Owari
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2015/06/after-owari.html
Thursday, June 18, 2015. Most Sentai members put their lives and dreams on hold when becoming a hero, and try to just resume their lives after the battle. It's not like they turn their time as a hero into fame, charging for autographs at events and creating merchandise. How many Sentai heroes are youths, and probably resume studies? How many Sentai heroes are athletes aspiring for the Olympics, who probably had their dreams crushed by abandoning their sport to devote the time to protecting lives? I mean,...

Them's Fightin' Words: My Friend Spielban
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-friend-spielban.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. Another way the show acknowledges it being the ultimate Metal Hero? Did Osamu Kaneda popularize that move? Was Spielban the first show to make it a regular thing, a trademark move? Do I just associate it the most with Spielban? Eh, doesn't matter - Spielban does it the coolest, dammit! To try and cloak the nonsense and sneak it by the viewers and they'd be OK with it. Laser Lance Command, now! July 24, 2015 at 1:42 PM. July 24, 2015 at 2:45 PM. Them's Fightin' Words: July 2013
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 15, 2013. Sentai producers: putting a face to the names. As was the case with the writers post, I'm covering only the chief producers, who are the real brains, anyway, when compared to the sub-producers and assistant producers. (I know there are people out there who like to credit, say, Shirakura for Dairanger, when he was just a sub-producer on that show, or credit Takebe for Megaranger when she was just an assistant producer.). Sunday, July 14, 2013. Who are these people? If Takaku wasn't ...

Them's Fightin' Words: Red Warriors
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2015/06/red-warriors.html
Friday, June 5, 2015. Someone asked me to talk about the Sentai Reds, like I did each sixth hero. I don't know if I can go through each color, but I gave the Reds a shot. And while you're reading this, keep thinking: what Red would you want to serve under? Imagine you're the new recruit on a Sentai team. Who would you want leading you? I like Sakurai well enough as a character, I just always had a problem with actor Yoshitaka Tamba. I think he's just too young (at 21, he was one of the youngest Reds ...

Them's Fightin' Words: November 2013
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 17, 2013. Any fan of the '80s shows can tell you - the merchandise from those shows can be pretty expensive nowadays. When I was after some of the henshin braces, the prices tended to be for a few hundred dollars. Mint-in-box mecha would be near seven hundred dollars. But this.this, man.I think it's a new, disgusting*, ridiculous record. The elusive Masking Brace, which shows up on auctions about once a year, has been going for some crazy prices, but.12,201 yen! That's $1,200.00 USD!

Them's Fightin' Words: August 2014
http://themsfightinwords.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 3, 2014. So, it seems the hopes of any more Sentai Figuarts are basically slim and none. It was irritating as a Sentai fan, to see announcements for more and more ridiculous characters Figuarts was releasing - seriously, Sailor Moon, even though in-the-flesh figures look dumb with Figuarts 2,000 articulated joints? Those stupid salaryman grunts from Akibaranger? I mean, I know those old ones sucked, but get to something new first! It's a sad state of affairs when you can buy a Figuarts of ...
